Charlottetown

The beautiful City of Charlottetown is located on the south shore of Prince Edward Island, just off the eastern shore of Canada, in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, separated from the mainland by the Northumberland Strait. The city covers a land area of 44.33 square kilometers.

Charlottetown is the capital city of Prince Edward Island, and is Canada’s “Birthplace of Confederation”, after the historic 1864 Charlottetown Conference that led to Confederation. Charlottetown is rich in history and culture. Many of the provincial and federal offices, and health and educational institutions are located in the city.

A quality of life that is second to none. Big city amenities, restaurants, nightlife, theatre, entertainment and arts and culture that only a Cultural Capital of Canada can provide. Major cultural and sporting events all hosted year round. Boardwalks stretch along almost the entire southern boundary of the city as you walk along one of the finest deep-water harbours in Canada. All of this in a safe, clean environment where friends are everywhere, and you and your family will want to stay, forever.

Three Rivers

The municipality of Three Rivers was created on September 28th, 2018. It is made up of the former towns of Georgetown and Montague, the village of Cardigan, the communities of Brudenell, Lorne Valley, Lower Montague, Valleyfield, and unincorporated areas that stretch from Panmure Island, to Launching, to Greenfield. It is now the fourth largest municipality on Prince Edward Island, with approximately 7,200 residents.

The natural beauty of Eastern PEI abounds in Three Rivers with its rolling farmland, beautiful beaches, marinas, and scenic communities with local art, shopping, and businesses that help the area thrive.

Whether you are looking for an Island getaway or a place to put down roots, Three Rivers has something for everyone.

The first election for Three Rivers was held on November 5, 2018, electing Mayor Edward MacAulay and 12 councillors representing 10 wards in the area. The bylaws for all of the former communities and municipalities are still in place and can be found in the bylaws section of this site. There are two town offices in Three Rivers to serve residents: 24 Queens Road in Montague and 36 Kent Street in Georgetown.

Alberton

The Town of Alberton and its surrounding area has many resources and services available to residents and visitors. All of these greatly aid in the day to day functioning of life in Alberton, and make it a friendly and safe place to live.

The Town of Alberton has a population of approximately 1,100 people, making it the highest populated community in West Prince. West Prince refers to the western part of Prince County, which is also the western most county on Prince Edward Island. Alberton covers a land area of 4.5 square kilometers and is situated in a rural area. However, this is just "Alberton Proper", the small area within the town limits. The Alberton area actually takes in many other important and unique surrounding communities, attractions, people, and businesses.

Alberton is essentially a farming and fishing community as most of the land surrounding Alberton is farm land and there is a flourishing fishing wharf (Northport Harbour) just 5 minutes from Main Street. Alberton also has a thriving commercial sector which complements our rural roots nicely.

There is something in Alberton for everyone. Whether you are looking for shopping, scenery, or just a place to relax, Alberton is the place to be.

Summerside

The DiverseCity Festival partners with Culture Summerside whose mission is to promote the value of art, heritage, and culture in our communities throughout the city. By highlighting our rich heritage, and showcasing the creativity of our citizens, we cultivate artistic endeavours, share the knowledge, and build the relationships needed with our residents to maintain and build a healthy vibrant population. We envision a city renowned for its cultural energy, preservation initiatives, and cultural tourism opportunities where arts, culture, and heritage thrive and are highly valued from a regional, provincial, and national perspective.

Summerside is the Island’s second-largest city, just 28 km from the Confederation Bridge and gateway to the western end of the Island. It proudly displays its shipbuilding heritage in many century homes, museums, monuments and murals, and the harbour front offers a spray of coastal flavour.

The City of Summerside has a population of approximately 13,814 people. Residents of Summerside enjoy safe neighbourhoods, excellent schools, accessible health-care services, vibrant cultural attractions, lush parks and green spaces, stunning water views, revitalized downtown shopping, sports and leisure activities, entertainment venues, and short commutes to work

Summerside is steeped in trade and shipbuilding history growing from a mere lot of land, Lot 17 in 1800, to a combination of small townships incorporated as the town of Summerside in 1875. The late 1800’s saw Summerside’s affluence grow with a community rich in shipbuilding, exporting goods and its steady farming industry churning in the background. The Prince Edward Island Railway began construction in 1871 with a stop in Summerside. This cemented its position as the leading centre of trade and commerce for the western half of the Island. From the early 1900’s to the 1940’s the town experienced prosperity as a fur-trading centre with breeding of silver foxes.

Unique museums, beautiful galleries, historic homes, live music, creative educational programming… However you prefer to interact with culture and the arts, there’s an option for you in Summerside.
